The Basilian Intercession

 The Celebrant begins:

Most merciful Father,
you are full of love and you are faithful to the promises you have made from ages past.
We now entrust to you the prayers and petitions we make for the needs of all.

The Intercessor continues:

FOR THE CHURCH

We pray for your one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, redeemed by the blood of your Christ. Reveal her unity, guard her faith, and preserve her in peace.

We pray for all who minister to your people, [especially...]. Fill them with a love of your truth, a zeal for souls, and the wisdom that the Spirit alone can bring.

We pray for all of our Christian brothers and sisters, and for all who seek the truth. Strengthen their minds and spirits as they walk the journey of faith.

FOR THE NATION AND THE WORLD

We pray for our civil authorities, [especially...]. Give them profound and enduring peace; fill their minds and hearts with good intentions and right actions on behalf of those committed to their care, and through them grant that all people may lead calm and peaceful lives.

FOR THE NEEDS OF THE LIVING

We pray for those gathered here, and for those who wish they could be with us, but are prevented on account of circumstance or need. Likewise, we pray for the strengthening of every Christian household, strength among married couples, guidance for the young, support for the old, encouragement for those who are afraid, and for guidance to fall upon those who find themselves seeking a pathway home to you.

Be present with those who are sick in body, mind, or spirit; journey with all travelers, free those held unjustly captive, and give courage to those struggling amid war, poverty, and natural disaster.

In your great tenderness of heart, show your love to those who love us, to those who hate us, and especially to those who have asked us to pray for them.

The Intercessor may now read aloud the Diptychs for the Living,
or the assembly may quietly speak the names of those for whom they wish to pray.

FOR THE DEPARTED

Remember all who have died in the peace of Christ,
and those whose faith is known to you alone;

especially for those dear to us whom we remember now…

The Intercessor may now read aloud the Diptychs for the Living,
or the assembly may quietly speak the names of those for whom they wish to pray.

Bring them rest throughout eternity in your Kingdom of eternal joy and light...

FOR OUR FELLOWSHIP WITH THE SAINTS

...and grant that we may find our inheritance with the Blessed Virgin Mary,
with patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs...

The Intercessor commemorates the patron and festal saints as appropriate.

and with all the saints who have found favor with you in ages past.
May we praise you in union with them for all eternity.

The Celebrant concludes:

Father, grant us your peace and love,
and in your goodness answer our prayers,
for you are the giver of every good and perfect gift.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
