Intercessions - Form C

  The Celebrant begins:

Most merciful Father,
with trust in your faithful love,
we now offer to you our prayers of intercession
on behalf of your Church and the whole world.

The Intercessor continues:

FOR THE CHURCH

Strengthen the bonds of unity and love we share with our Christian brothers and sisters, both here in our own community and throughout the world. Help us to walk together the path that your Son has set forth for us, and grant mutual understanding to all believers, that one day all who call themselves Christian will gather without division to share in your great and promised feast.

In a particular way, keep us close in mind and heart to those who serve you in apostolic ministry, [especially...] and grant that we may both heed their godly teaching and graciously support them in their mission among us.

FOR THE NATION AND THE WORLD

Grant wisdom to those who lead among the nations, their advisors, and those who influence them in any respect. Allow them to understand that they serve the interests, not of some, but of all, and that they must ultimately give an account to you for their conduct and their deeds.

In a particular way, inspire those who hold elected office in our own land, [especially...] to recall their constitutional and ethical duties, to prioritize the needs of our citizenry, the stewardship of our resources, and the promotion of peace, equity, and justice throughout our nation.

FOR THE NEEDS OF THE LIVING

Be present amid the joys, challenges, triumphs, and sorrows of all your people. Help them to navigate the currents of this life in a way that is pleasing to you, and that demonstrates your goodness, your love, and your presence to all.

In a particular way, we pray for those we know who, this day, stand in need of our prayers for guidance, strength, healing, and peace.

The Intercessor may now read aloud the Diptychs for the Living,
or the assembly may quietly speak the names of those for whom they wish to pray.

FOR THE DEPARTED AND OUR FELLOWSHIP WITH THE SAINTS

In your mercy, give rest to the faithful departed,
especially those we remember now...

The Intercessor may now read aloud the Diptychs for the Departed,
or the assembly may quietly speak the names of those for whom they wish to pray.

...and grant that we, with them, may inherit your everlasting Kingdom,
together with the Blessed Virgin Mary...

The Intercessor commemorates the patron and festal saints as appropriate.

...all your saints,
and indeed with all who have sought you faithfully throughout the ages.

The Celebrant concludes:

We ask all of this, Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord,
with confidence in your love for us,
and your desire to work for us that which is good.
Amen.
