The Celebrant begins:
with trust in your faithful love,
we now offer to you our prayers of intercession
on behalf of your Church and the whole world.
The Intercessor continues:
FOR THE CHURCH
Keep us faithful to your Son's teaching, the Church's fellowship, the breaking of bread in the Eucharist, and in our prayers, and enflame within us selfless spirits, open to sharing the blessings of our own lives so that all may have what they truly need.
In a particular way, grant to those who lead and guide your Church [especially...] faithful voices dedicated to proclaiming your truth and your love.
FOR THE NATION AND THE WORLD
Give us thankful hearts for the many blessings of the land in which we live, allow us to rightly rejoice in the goodness our people have accomplished at home and abroad, and grant us the grace to do what remains to be done to bring about peace and justice throughout the world..
In a particular way, grant to those who lead and guide our nation, [especially...] may be ever mindful of the responsibilities that accompany their offices, and may dedicate themselves fully to the promotion of freedom, dignity, and equity for all.
FOR THE NEEDS OF THE LIVING
FOR THE DEPARTED
Keep alive in our minds and hearts our love and connection to those who have passed from this life. Allow us to continually find peace and joy in the positive impacts that their lives have had upon us and, where we still carry bitterness or anger towards them, relieve our hearts of that heavy burden.
FOR OUR FELLOWSHIP WITH THE SAINTS
In the fullness of time, gather your people, living and departed, from the ends of the earth, so that in fellowship with the Blessed Virgin Mary...
The Intercessor commemorates the patron and festal saints as appropriate.
...and all your saints, we may sing of your glory forever in the Kingdom you have prepared for us from the foundation of the world.
The Celebrant concludes:
together with those things which are needful to us
- body, mind, and spirit -
through the merits and mediation of your beloved Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.
