Intercessions - Form 4

 The Officiant begins:

Almighty and everliving Father,
you have taught us through your holy Apostle to make prayers and supplications,
and to give thanks on behalf of all.
Therefore, we humbly beseech you to receive the prayers we offer
for the whole state of Christ's Church,
and for all people according to their needs.

The Intercessor continues:

The response Lord, have mercy may be made by the assembly after each paragraph.

Inspire continually the Universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and peace, and grant that all who profess the name of Jesus may agree in the truth of your holy Word and live in unity and godly love.

Give grace, to all Bishops and other ministers, [especially…that they may, both by their life and doctrine, set forth your true, living Word, and rightly and duly administer your holy Sacraments.

To all your people give your heavenly grace - especially to this congregation here present - that, with meek heart and due reverence, they may hear, and receive your holy Word; truly serving thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life.

We beseech you also, so to direct and dispose the hearts of all civil leaders, [especially…that they may truly and impartially administer justice, to the punishment of wickedness and vice, and to the maintenance of peaceful and virtuous living.

And we most humbly beseech you, in your goodness, to comfort and assist all those who, in this transitory life, are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity; especially those for whom we now pray.

Silence is kept for a time.

Finally, we bless your holy Name for all your servants departed this life in your faith and fear, [especially…]. Grant them continual growth in your love and service, and to us, give the grace necessary to follow their good examples, that with them we may be partakers of your heavenly kingdom.

The Officiant concludes:

Grant these prayers and petitions, O merciful Father,
together with whatsoever may be needful for ourselves and others,
for the sake of your beloved Son, Jesus Christ,
our Mediator and Advocate. Amen.
