The Celebrant begins:
Let us pray now, my beloved, for our Church, and for the needs of our world.
A deacon or other minister continues.
The response Lord, have mercy may be made by the assembly after each paragraph.
We pray that every member of Christ's Church may truly and humbly serve from the fullness of their gifts to the glory of God and for the needs of our world.
We pray that all who have been called to serve God's Church, [particularly ___, our bishop,] may be faithful ministers of Word and Sacrament.
We pray that who govern and hold authority among the nations of the world, [especially ___, our president,] may be committed to paths of justice and peace for the wellbeing of all.
We pray that all of us who have gathered today in worship may find the grace to do God's will in all our actions; and that we may may reflect the merciful heart of Christ.
We pray for those who suffer from any grief or trouble, that they may be consoled by the presence of the Spirit, and delivered from their distress.
And finally, we pray for our own needs, and for the needs of others of which we are aware...
Silence is kept for a time.
... and we ask you to reveal to us your merciful care, your deep compassion, and your bountiful love.
The Celebrant concludes:
All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
